I recently received some Cobrabraid 550 samples to review. The bracelets I received were made of study paracord.

First Aid Merit Badge for Boy Scouts
Knowing first aid is a basic Boy Scout skill. Even if a Boy Scout doesn’t use his first aid knowledge to save a life someday, at least he will have the skills he needs to take care of common injuries. And that will help him develop independence.
BSA Wolf Den Meeting Plan 6: Know Your Home and Community
This plan completes Wolf Achievement 4 – Know Your Home and Community, which was started in the previous meeting plan. It also includes some electives – Let’s Have a Party and Sing-Along.
BSA Bear Den Meeting Plan 4 – Law Enforcement Is a Big Job
This plan covers Bear Achievement 7 – Law Enforcement Is a Big Job. I’ll include some links and other ideas to help you with this meeting plan.
Fire Safety Merit Badge for Boy Scouts

Sweet 16 of BSA Safety | CPR Resource
Why take a chance? Encourage some adults in your unit to learn CPR. It’s one of those things you hope you never need, but if you do it could save a life.
Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge for Boy Scouts
The Emergency Preparedness merit badge is one of the most useful badges a Boy Scout can earn. You hope you will never need to use the information you learn, but if you do find yourself in an emergency situation, you can make a difference. This badge is all about being prepared for the unexpected.
This month I am focusing on cycling. Helmets are required for all BSA cycling activities. It is important to note that this applies to adults also. Your helmet isn’t going to do you much good if it doesn’t fit correctly. Here are some guidelines.
Sweet 16 of BSA Safety | First Aid Resources
No matter what the situation, you should “Be Prepared” for first aid. Even at den meetings I keep a very small personal first aid kit on hand for dealing with scrapes and small cuts which can occur during games.
This month I am focusing on cycling. If you are going to ride a bike, you’d better make sure it is in good repair first. You don’t want to be riding along and have your front wheel fall off or your brakes not work. I found a great website called How To Fix Bikes which offers all sorts of advice on – drum roll… – how to fix bikes!
Lifesaving Merit Badge for Boy Scouts
LC earned this last summer. Even though he was a first year Scout, they let him do it because it was our second summer camp for the summer and he had completed Swimming merit badge at the first camp. LC is a good swimmer but is small. The only part he had trouble with was getting the 10lb weight out, but he managed to do it. If you are not a strong swimmer, I recommend you practice your skills before attempting this badge.
All four of my boys had their physicals yesterday. And I took along the BSA medical form to have it filled out so they would be ready for camp this summer. Sometimes this takes parents by surprise. Remind them to make an appointment and get it done if they haven’t already.
Boy Scouts are going to build fires. That is pretty much a given. So they should be trained to use fire safely. This BSA certification provides a set of rules which can be used for training with Scouts. A pocket card is also available at your local Scout shop, to indicate that the Scout has completed the training and agrees to the rules.
Travel Safety Checklist for Cub Scouts
Most of us will be travelling this summer. We might be going on a vacation, heading out to camp, or taking a weekend visit to see relatives. So this is a good time to review travel safety rules with our kids.
Emergency Preparedness BSA – Cub Scout Requirements
This award is all about emergency preparedness. Today I am sharing the Cub Scout requirements. This might make a nice theme for a pack event. There are different requirements for Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters.
