Soccer Cub Scout Theme

Soccer is a great sport for young boys because most of them can pick up the basic skills quickly. And it also promotes the BSA aim of fitness. So if you are looking for a theme for your pack meeting, den meeting, or a pack activity, consider soccer.
A few ideas for this theme are listed below, and more will gradually be added. Organize a pack meeting or den meeting around them. Or plan an overall theme for your Cub Scout year and add an element or two from the theme into your program each month.

Soccer Terminology One suggestion I have when working with Cub Scouts is to draw up a large soccer field on poster board and use some Lego figures or something similar to be players. Then you can give a visual demonstration of these terms. Or make a game of it by showing them something and asking if anyone knows the term. For very young Scouts, simplify this list of terms even more.
Soccer Word Search Puzzle If you are looking for a gathering activity to go with this month's soccer theme , try this word search puzzle. As I mentioned in my post a few days ago, when teaching a new skill one of the first things you need to do is develop a common terminology.
Soccer Cake A few years back, one of our son's coaches had an end-of-season party for the soccer team. My husband likes to decorate cakes, so he made a soccer cake for the party. Since I am showcasing a soccer theme this month, I thought I'd share the idea with you.

Soccer Tennis When my den meetings were immediately after school, I often did a physical activity during the gathering time. The Scouts needed to run around and burn off a little energy before they were ready to concentrate on the den activities.
Soccer Zipper Pulls If you want a craft with a soccer theme, try making soccer themed zipper pulls. I've outlined a basic idea below, but you can get creative and change it up however you want. They can use the colored beads at the bottom to represent their school colors or the colors for their favorite team.
Soccer and Scouting Program The Soccer and Scouting program seeks to bring the values of Scouting to boys who might not be currently involved in a Cub Scout program. It is a 12 week program for boys in the 1st through 5th grades.
Soccer Pin for Cub Scouts Here comes soccer season again! If you have Cub Scouts who play soccer, they can receive recognition for their efforts. The Cub Scout Academics and Sports program includes a belt loop and pin for soccer.
Soccer Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Fall sports season is upon us! Here in the Midwest, soccer is very popular with the kids.So encourage your Cub Scouts to earn their Soccer belt loop this month.
What is Good Sportsmanship? Scouting and sports go together. Many recognitions require that the Scout discuss sportsmanship. So what does good sportsmanship mean?
Follow the Dribbler Soccer Drill When working with young Scouts, simpler is usually better. Every den has at least one or two boys who really find it unbearable to sit through lengthy instructions. Follow the Dribbler is a really simple soccer drill.
Soccer Marbles If you are having a soccer or sports themed meeting, a soccer drill can be a fun way to burn of some energy. Soccer marbles is a three person soccer drill. It is simple enough for young Scouts.
Soccer Drill - Soccer Croquet This month I am featuring a soccer theme for Cub Scouts. A soccer drill can make a fun gathering activity or an end of the meeting game for a soccer themed meeting. This drill emphasizes teamwork, dribbling skills, and passing accuracy.
