Weather Cub Scout Theme

Watching the weather can be a fun way to spend some time with your Scouts. Lie on the ground and imagine what shapes you see in passing clouds. If you spark an interest, there are weather related awards they can earn. So try incorporating some weather themed activities into your pack meetings or den meetings.
A few ideas for this theme are listed below, and more will gradually be added. Organize a pack meeting or den meeting around them. Or plan an overall theme for your Cub Scout year and add an element or two from the theme into your program each month.

BSA Tiger Den Meeting 5 – Let’s Go Outdoors and Song Time This is the fifth in the series of Tiger den meeting plans provide by BSA. If you are using this series, it works best if you do the plans in order. So do the previous meetings before this one. This meeting plan covers Tiger Achievement 5 - Let's Go Outdoors. It also completes Tiger Elective 6 - Song Time.
Printable Explanation of the Water Cycle With all of the rain we've been having lately, this seems like a good time to post this aid to help explain the water cycle. I made this aid to help my Webelos when they were working on the Weather belt loop as a requirement for the Scientist activity badge. The material also fits in with the Weather merit badge.
Tiger Den Meeting Plan – Let’s Go Outdoors A den meeting plan to fulfill Tiger Achievement 5: Let's Go Outdoors and Tiger Elective 33: Cleanup Treasure Hunt.
Cub Scout World Conservation Award This award is available to Wolves, Bears, and Webelos. The purpose of the award is to help Cub Scouts think about how we are all interdependent on our environment. The requirements are differnent depending which year the Cub Scout is in.
Wild Weather Adventure Game This is a board game I came across recently on the NASA Space Place website. It is going to take a little time for you to print and prepare the materials, but I think this would be a hit at any weather themed scout meeting.
Weather Pin for Cub Scouts Do you have a Cub Scout who loves to watch the weather? Or maybe he always knows the forecast for the next week. I have one Scout in my Webelos den who is fascinated by the weather. He has made his own weather website and even brings his weather radio to camp with him.
Hail Storm Game This game doesn’t take much space, so it can be played indoors. If you think ahead and take the materials to camp with you, you can even play it under a fly on a rainy day.
Water Cycle Demonstration This project will demonstrate the water cycle to scouts. This demonstration can be used with requirement 1 for the Weather belt loop for Cub Scouts or with requirement 6 for the Weather merit badge for Boy Scouts.
Weather Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Get your Cub Scouts outside to work on their Weather Belt Loop. If you don't have time to do this at a meeting, send a copy of the requirements home with your scouts.
What’s In the Bag Game What's In the Bag is a simple guessing game which can be adjusted for any meeting theme. Use it at a den meeting or a pack meeting.
