Fishing Belt Loop for Cub Scouts If you have a favorite spot to go fishing in your neighborhood, take a look at the Fishing belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program.
Table Tennis Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Cub Scouts who are interested in table tennis can earn the Table Tennis belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program. If you don't have your own table, check your local community center.
Powdered Sports Drink Recipe Sports drinks like Gatorade or Power Aid are designed to replenish the water and salt your body loses when you are active or exercising. You can mix up your own powdered mix to accomplish this for a fraction of the cost of purchasing these drinks by the bottle.
Soccer Theme for Cub Scouts Soccer is a great sport for young boys because most of them can pick up the basic skills quickly. And it also promotes the BSA aim of fitness. So if you are looking for a theme for your pack meeting or a pack activity, consider soccer.
Bowling Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Bowling is a great winter activity for those days off. So when you head to the bowling alley with your family or den, don't forget to complete the requirements for the Bowling belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program.
Roller Skating Belt Loop for Cub Scouts I have to admit that I have never been much of a roller skater. My kids really enjoy it though and it is a popular venue for birthday parties around here. So the Roller Skating belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program would make a great den activity.
Swimming Belt Loop for Cub Scouts If your Cub Scouts go to the pool during the summer, they can earn their Swimming belt loop without a lot of effort.
Cub Scout Trading Cards With baseball season right around the corner, let your Cub Scouts make their own trading cards with "Cub Scout stats". This Cub Scout craft works great with any sports themed den or pack meeting.
Gymnastics Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Check with gymnastics programs in your area. Chances are that one will be happy to have your Cub Scouts in for a session at a reasonable price
Ice Skating Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Your Cub Scouts will have to put on some skates to earn their ice skating belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program.
Soccer Terminology One suggestion I have when working with Cub Scouts is to draw up a large soccer field on poster board and use some Lego figures or something similar to be players. Then you can give a visual demonstration of these terms. Or make a game of it by showing them something and asking if anyone knows the term. For very young Scouts, simplify this list of terms even more.
Baseball Belt Loop for Cub Scouts The Cub Scout Academics and Sports program lets Cub Scouts at all levels receive recognition for whatever their special interests are. Look at the baseball belt loop this month. If your Cubs are on a baseball team, they have probably almost earned this award.
Soccer Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Fall sports season is upon us! Here in the Midwest, soccer is very popular with the kids.So encourage your Cub Scouts to earn their Soccer belt loop this month.
Den Meeting Plan - Marbles Belt Loop This meeting plan covers all of the requirements for the Marbles belt loop for the Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program.
Bike Rodeo Our pack might be doing a bike rodeo this year. I have visited these before, but we have never put one on ourselves. So I am researching possible "stations" which the kids can rotate through for the activity.
Ultimate Belt Loop for Cub Scouts We are going to a local park to do the Ultimate belt loop. I don't think anyone in our pack has earned this belt loop yet. I can't imagine that our Cub Scouts won't have fun throwing frisbees around in the park.
Badminton Belt Loop for Cub Scouts If you are getting together with family this summer, you might have a chance to play some badminton. Then your Cub Scout can earn the Badminton Belt Loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. So string a net between a couple of trees. Get out the rackets and the birdies. And have some family fun.
Webelos who earn the Badminton Belt Loop while a Webelos also complete part of requirement 3 for the Sportsman activity badge.
What is Good Sportsmanship? Scouting and sports go together. Many recognitions require that the Scout discuss sportsmanship. So what does good sportsmanship mean?
Basketball Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Just because it has turned bitter cold outside this week doesn't mean that Cub Scouts can't stay active. Encourage your Cub Scouts to earn their basketball beltloop this month. If they are on a team, they have almost earned it already.
Physical Fitness Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Since health and fitness is the core value for Cub Scouts for the month of May, this might be a good time to introduce the requirements for the Physical Fitness belt loop. This recognition is part of the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program
Cycling Theme I am featuring a Bikes theme this month. This theme has lots of useful information for Cub Scouts, but much of it applies to Boy Scouts and Venturers also. Boy Scouts can use the aids you will see this month with the Cycling merit badge. And Venturers will find this information useful for the Cycling/Mountain Biking elective for the Ranger Award.
Ideas for May Pack Meeting - Health and Fitness The core value for Cub Scouts for the month of May is Health and Fitness. According to the program helps health and fitness is:
Being personally committed to keeping our minds and bodies cleanand fit.Cub Scouts will learn that it is important and easy to eat a healthy diet and how a fitnessprogram can be part of their daily routine.
Soccer Word Search Puzzle If you are looking for a gathering activity to go with this month's soccer theme , try this word search puzzle. As I mentioned in my post a few days ago, when teaching a new skill one of the first things you need to do is develop a common terminology.
Bicycling Belt Loop for Cub Scouts Today I am highlighting the Bicycling Belt Loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. This fits in well with the cycling theme I am featuring this month. Fall is approaching and is wonderful time to get out biking with the Cub Scouts. This belt loop would make a good starting point for a pack meeting or pack bike hike.
